Last weekend was a four day weekend (bank holiday) in UK and we decided to use it wisely. We also had family visiting and luckily we were not able to use the cold weather as an excuse to stay in.
At least it didn't rain. All previous London visits were either with snow or rain and we focused on indoor activities (Tate Modern, London Eye...). This time, other than very cold, the day was amazing for making some great pictures and exploring around. The train from Leamington Spa dropped us off at Marylebone station where we hopped on the TUBE (when in rome....:-)....) and got off at London Bridge. Our first stop was Borough Market. Borough Market is one of the largest and oldest food Markets in London. I know for sure who would like to see this London attraction first while visitting us (Kutlacom po kazanu).
It was great exploring all kinds of different sweets and treats. We had our mid morning snack there and we were ready to head towards Tower Bridge.
Since I just arrived to the UK I am still doing the very touristy things. We walked across the Tower Bridge which is east of the Borough Market.
Then we just glanced at the Tower of London (pictures below) but we are planing a tour very soon to see the exhibition of the Crown Jewels now on display there.
It was already time for lunch and we headed to Chelsea. At Sloane Square in The Botanist we met the rest of the group. Two of them had lived in NY as well which of course resulted in some NY vs. London discusion, and yes all four of us were on the NY side :-). They also mentioned the Borough Market as the best place in London to buy fresh fish.
After lunch it was time for some shopping. Close to The Botanist is Peter Jones department store. We spent some time there before going to the famous Harrods to completely knock ourselves out.
As the lights on the pictures above suggest, it's over the top! It's just toooo much of everything and tooo many people around. Even for me :-)
